Vagif Sadikhov, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Italy visited Sicily, one of Italy's main regions.
The purpose of the visit is the establishment and development of cooperation with the leadership, as well as the Sicilian business and cultural circles, the embassy told Trend.

Mr Sadikhov met with the governor of Sicily Raffaele Lombardo during his visit and issues of mutual interest for cooperation in the economic and cultural areas were discussed.

The Ambassador then met the Mayor of Catania Raffaele Stankanelli and prefect Francesca Kannizo on the same day. Establishing economic and trade relations between Azerbaijan and Sicil and cooperation on tourism and youth exchange were the main items on the agenda.

Agreement on establishing cooperation between both universities was reached at a meeting with the rector of the University of Catania, Antonio Rekka.

Then Mr Sadikhov met with Pietro Eydzhenom, the President of Catania's Chamber of Commerce and the vice president of the Commerce Confederation of Italy and representatives of the Chamber. Both sides reached an agreement on business cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sicily.
Mr Sadikhov then met with Bellini Rita Gary, advisor for Culture and Tourism of Catania and the director of the Opera Theatre Massimo on the same day. Culture and tourism featured at the meeting and a visit to the Catania Institute of Navigation was also organised.

The ambassador toured the Sicilian town of Enna and met with Salvo Ando the Rector of the University of Enna Koryo. The possibility of cooperation between the Azerbaijani universities and the University of Enna Koryo was discussed. This was followed by visits to a number of companies and the ambassador attended a press conference at the end of his visit.
