Azerbaijan, EU discuss prospects for cooperation

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has today received a delegation led by EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Philippe Lefort, the press-service of the foreign ministry told Trend on Tuesday.
The sides discussed issues of promising cooperation between the EU and Azerbaijan at the meeting.
Mr Mammadyarov stressed that the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the highest priority of the Azerbaijan's foreign policy and informed the EU representative that this conflict is the greatest problem for Azerbaijan. The Minister also said the biggest obstacle to the settlement of the conflict is the fact that the Armenian Armed Forces continue to occupy Azerbaijani territories.
Mr Mammadyarov noted the importance of changing status quo and stressed the necessary first step in this direction is withdrawal of the Armenian Armed Forces from the occupied territories.
The sides also discussed other issues of mutual interest.
