Azerbaijan hopes for objective PACE report
Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 16 / Trend M. Aliyev /
Azerbaijan hopes that the of PACE co-rapporteurs will prepare an objective report.
"PACE's co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan earlier visited Baku," Chairman of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE Samad Seyidov told media today.
"They observed the processes in the country. Discussions related to Azerbaijan will be held in the Council of Europe on the basis of their report. I am confident that the discussions will be held constructively."
They received objective answers to their questions, he said.
"We have reiterated that our position is to cooperate with the Council of Europe," Seyidov said. "But if any forces in the CE put pressure on Azerbaijan by abusing human rights, we will vigorously oppose such a move."
PACE Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan co-rapporteurs Agramunt Pedro de Mora and Joseph Debono Grech paid a visit to Azerbaijan in late January-early February. They said at a press conference in Baku that they will prepare a report on the visit.
