US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has congratulated Azerbaijani people on the national holiday - Republic Day.
"On behalf of President Obama and the people of the United States, I am delighted to send best wishes to the people of Azerbaijan as you celebrate Republic Day this May 28th. I am looking forward to my trip to Baku in a few days where I will have the chance to talk to civil society and government leaders about Azerbaijan's challenges and opportunities, and how the United States can support a brighter future for both our people", Clinton said in her statement placed on the State Department's website.
According to the statement, during the meetings Clinton will discuss new ways to partner together to promote regional security and stability, enhance energy security, and strengthen economic and political reforms.
"As you celebrate your national day, know that the United States stands with you. Congratulations and best wishes for a peaceful and prosperous year to come", read the statement.
Clinton will travel to Azerbaijan on June 6.
