Baku hosted an event dedicated to the 20th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Romania.
Azerbaijani Agriculture minister Ismet Abbasov said in his speech that Romania is one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence, supporting Azerbaijan on Nagorno-Karabakh.
He said the relations between Azerbaijan and Romania, established under national leader Heydar Aliyev, are developing and expanding today as a result of the mutual visits of heads of two states.
Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Daniel Ciobanu, in turn, noted that during the past 20 years as a result of the attention and efforts of Azerbaijan and Romania bilateral relations have been developing at a high level.
Stressing the importance of mutual visits of Heads of State, the ambassador noted that the strategic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Romania will contribute to peace and prosperity in the region and throughout the world.
The event was continued by concert of Mandinga, which represented Romania at the Eurovision 2012 in Baku.
