Azerbaijan, Baku, June 22 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /
Azerbaijani MP connected reluctance to convene a congress of the Musavat party with its current problem.
"Venue for the party congress has already been found, but Musavat does not want to convene a congress, because they would have big problems at the time of the Congress," deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijani party (NAP), MP Siyavush Novruzov told Trend on Friday.
He said the party has a problem with the candidacy of the chairman, so they say that they will hold a congress in Georgia, but after a while they would say that they will hold it in Russia or Iran.
They do not want under any pretext to call a congress, because during a congress they will need to consider the chairmanship issue, Novruzov said.
Most members of the Musavat party now know that Isa Gambar does not lead the party forward. From this point of view there is an issue of his resignation, and there are alternative candidates. Therefore, citing various reasons, they will delay the convening of the Congress and hold it up to presidential election in 2013," the deputy said.
Expressing attitude to the information that Baku Crystal Hall will be given to Musavat party for congress, Novruzov said that this hall is not designed for such events.
"First of all, Baku Crystal Hall seats over 23,000 people. Not only Musavat, but even if part of the opposition gathers together, there is no more than 700 people. So it's ridiculous that a bunch of people will hold a congress there. On the other hand, as we know, there is a certain amount of rent that must be paid. Third, Baku Crystal Hall is designed for other shows. If they want to sing and dance, let them go there," he said.
He said the venue for the congress has already been found and presented to them. Just Musavat party does not want to convene a congress.
