Iran intends to hold the largest chemical, physical and geological research operation in the Persian Gulf. Work will begin in the Strait of Hormuz in September, IRNA agency reported today with reference to head of the Iranian National Centre for Oceanography Vahid Chegini.
The research operations will last for 18 months. Large scale measurements of the physical and chemical properties of sea water and geological parameters will be carried out during this period, Chegini said.
He added that until now, no country has conducted any research operation in the Persian Gulf. This programme implementation will allow studying the changes occurring in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz
