Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party intends to submit a bill to reduce the age limit for being able to vote or become an MP down to 18 years, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday, TRT HABER reported.

Erdogan noted that this is common practice in European countries. He added that it is illogical that there is a criminal responsibility at 18 years, but it is not possible to be elected as a member of parliament or other elected bodies at the same age.

"The ruling party is confident that the opposition parties in Turkey will also support this project," he said.

Earlier, Erdogan has repeatedly stated that the age limit for being elected will be reduced in Turkey.
