The visit is intended to show Tunisia's solidarity with the Palestinian people.
Egyptian Prime Minister Hisham Kandil visited in the Gaza Strip on the instruction of President Mohamed Mursi.

The Israeli Air Force carried out attacks today, the second day of operations in the Gaza Strip, aimed at about a 100 targets and killing three members of the HAMAS movement's military wing, bringing the total number of killed Palestinians to at least 11.

Operation Pillar of Cloud has been a large scale operation carried out over the past four years. Tanks and naval ships are involved in the shelling of Gaza in addition to planes. Representatives of the Israeli political leadership and military command do not rule out a land invasion.
