On Tuesday, the Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan opened the 40th session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC).
The session was opened by the president of PABSEC and Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Oqtay Asadov.
He said that the activities of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, promotes development of multilateral relations between the member states.
According to Asadov, six months ago the Milli Majlis took over the PABSEC presidency and during this period worked to further expand the organisation's activity.
Asadov said that political, environmental and economic problems cannot be solved alone without cooperation with other countries.
Referring to the activities of the BSEC, Asadov said that the Black Sea region has great potential, and in this regard, it has focused on the existing regional transnational projects.
He also noted with regret that the conflicts in the region are an obstacle to its development.
"We believe that all conflicts will soon find a solution on a fair basis of the states' territorial integrity," Asadov said.
He then read out the greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the delegates.
