The potential for economic development of the Black Sea region is increasingly attracting international attention, the Chairman of Turkish Grand National Assembly Cemil Cicek said today at the opening of the 40th session of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Baku.
"Despite countries of the Black Sea region representing different cultures, the Black Sea contributes to our cooperation. This cooperation is only in the interests of the peoples of the region," Cicek said.
That the Black Sea Economic Cooperation is a peaceful regional project is proved by its 20-year history, Cicek said. The speaker of the Turkish Parliament said BSEC activity contributes to peace and stability in the region.
"For further provision of peace and stability in the region, we need to further develop inter-religious and inter-cultural ties," Cicek said
