Iran has offered to move the secretariat of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea to Iran.
The proposal was made by head of Iran's Environmental Protection Organisation Mohammad-Javad Mohammadizadeh in Moscow at a meeting of the convention, the İRNA agency said on Friday.
The Convention was signed in Tehran which is why the secretariat should be moved to the capital of Iran from Geneva, he said.
The Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea was signed in Tehran in November 2003. Azerbaijan joined the convention in 2006.
