Azerbaijan remains true to the goal of establishing peace in Afghanistan, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said in an interview with Azerbaijani and foreign media outlets on the summary of 2012.
To this end, Azerbaijan is actively involved in various international initiatives undertaken by the consent of the Afghan government, he said.
"As for possible new NATO mission in Afghanistan after 2014, operational plan of the mission still has to be approved. Azerbaijan has already been involved in consultations on the formation of the mission's parameters. At the same time, in addition to establishing close ties with Afghanistan, as well as bringing serious contribution to operations on maintenance of international security, Azerbaijan has proved itself to be a loyal ally," he said.
Mammadyarov said for the welfare of the brotherly Afghan people, as well as strengthening of regional and international security, Azerbaijan will continue to consult with NATO in connection with a new mission, and after the operation parameters will be known, it will announce its decision on the possible participation in it.
"As a loyal and trusted supporter of NATO, as a potential supporter of operations after the mission ISAF is completed, Azerbaijan allocated necessary financial support and has necessary capacity in this area to contribute to efforts on "training, advice and assistance. We actually started doing this in a number of areas," he said.
"Azerbaijan remains faithful to the common goals, not only in this format, but also in bilateral format within cooperation with Afghanistan, and will make every effort to achieve the final goal," he said.
