Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 22 / Trend E. Mehdiyev /
Azerbaijani youth organizations condemn distribution by Turkish Airlines of the Agos Armenian daily newspaper on board of its flight to passengers.
That is very sad, especially on the eve of the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide, chairman of the Public Association for Assistance in Intellectual Development of Youth Seymur Orujov told Trend.
"Turkey and Azerbaijan are brotherly countries. Although this is not an official position, I still condemn the distribution of this newspaper by Turkish Airlines on board of its flight on the eve of the anniversary of the Khojaly genocide. I did not expect this from a friendly country. If any other state would have committed such an action, it would not be so sad, but suchlike doings of any private company or a citizen of Turkey are very sorrowful," Orujov said.
Turkish Airlines have to consider that Azerbaijan and Azerbaijani people are much closer to Turkey than the Armenians, Orujov said.
According to him, perhaps, Armenian organizations want this to spoil the fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, between the two nations.
"I wouldn't want Turkish Airlines to follow such provocations, as it has a moral influence on us, not expecting this kind of actions from a fraternal country. Our unity, our fraternity will last forever," Orujov said.
Chairman of the Association of Young Turkish writers Akbar Goshali urged the leading members of Turkish society to express their attitude to this issue.
"I believe they will also give their opinions on the matter. During the signing of the Zurich protocols, when the opening of the Turkish-Armenian border was on the agenda, the Turkish people protested against it and that has brought the results," Goshali said.
In such a sensitive issue, Turkey should realize what is expected from it, and as a brotherly country has to solve the problem, said Goshali.
