A proposal was made to hold a conference in Azerbaijan for the creation of the Islamic Financial Safety Net, unofficial sources told Trend today.
It became known that the notion of holding the founding conference of the Islamic Financial Safety Net to help the Palestinian people was reflected in the communiqué issued following the 13th summit of heads of governments and member-states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in the Egyptian capital of Cairo on February 6-7, 2013. It was discussed by Egyptian Prime Minister Salam Feyyad and Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki during the visit of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov to Palestine.
According to the report, it was suggested that Azerbaijan hold the conference; the country accepted the proposal.
