Defense products of the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan presented at the IDEF-2013 exhibition were met with great interest, the press service of the Ministry told Trend.

According to the ministry, defense products, created and produced by the Ministry, were demonstrated at the XI International Defence Industry Exhibition IDEF-2013 in Istanbul on May 7-10.

The exhibition is held every two years. The Ministry of Defense Industry participates in this exhibition for the third time.

The Ministry first presented only 27 items at the IDEF-2009 exhibition. The current exhibition displayed 130 items of defense products of the Ministry of Defense Industry.

In this connection, the delegation headed by the Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Yavar Jamalov visited Turkey.

IDEF-2013 demonstrated the showcased gun "Gyurza" (7,62x54 mm), sniper rifle "Yalguzag" (7,62x51 mm), HP-7, 62 offensive machine (7.62 x 54 mm), a patrol car "Gyurza", drones and other military products.

According to the press-service, all items presented by the Ministry at the exhibition caused great interest by the participants of the event.

The Minister of National Defense of Turkey Ismet Yilmaz, who visited the stand of the Ministry of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan, stressed that cooperation in the defense industry is developing between the two countries just as in other areas. Yilmaz said this cooperation will strengthen the armies of Turkey and Azerbaijan.

The Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan noted that Turkey and Azerbaijan are preparing joint projects for cooperation in the defense industry.

During the visit, Azerbaijan and Turkey signed a protocol of intent on expanding existing cooperation in the relevant fields. The protocol was signed by the Minister of Defense Industry of Azerbaijan Yavar Jamalov and Secretary of Defense Industry of the Ministry of National Defense of Turkey Murad Bayar.

Alongside, talks were held and general agreements on cooperation achieved with delegations from Italy, Poland, South Africa, Serbia and other countries, who visited the stand of the Ministry of Defense Industry.
Among those, who visited the stand of the Ministry, were also Azerbaijan's Minister of Defense Safar Abiyev and the Chief of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan Elchin Guliyev.

During the event, representatives of the Ministry provided the delegations from different countries with detailed information on the International Defence Industry Exhibition "ADEX-2014" to be held in Azerbaijan next year, and invited them to the event.

It should be noted that some countries have already confirmed their participation in the ADEX-2014 exhibition.
