On Monday the Turkish court began reading out a verdict on the case of Ergenekon organisation members accused of attempting a military coup in the country, Sabah newspaper wrote on Monday.

On Monday the Turkish court began reading out a verdict on the case of Ergenekon organisation members accused of attempting a military coup in the country, Sabah newspaper wrote on Monday.

The court found the Ergenekon organisation, involved in the attempted military coup in Turkey in 2006, as being a terrorist group.

It is reported that 21 people were acquitted on the case of a coup.

The case on a campaign to discredit the ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey has been under examination for several years. Former head of the Turkish General Staff Ilker Basbug among other high-ranking military is also accused of involvement in the conspiracy.

Gen. Basbug resigned in 2010. Currently, his relations with the so-called Ergenekon group accused of anti-government conspiracy are being investigated.
