Egypt's court decided on Wednesday to release the former President Hosni Mubarak from prison, Al Arabiya channel reported.

Mubarak's lawyer Farid al-Deeb said on August 19, that the ex-president should be released by the end of the week, after the Cairo Criminal Court's decision to relieve him of one of the main accusations in corruption.

It was earlier reported that the main argument of defence is that Mubarak has returned the equivalent of 450 thousand euros, in illegal obtaining of which from the Information Ministry he was accused.

The ex-president Mubarak has been in prison for more than two years. The court sentenced him to life imprisonment for his involvement in the deaths of protesters, but then the sentence was cancelled by the higher court.
