The energy sector of Azerbaijan's economy makes a great contribution to the development of both the country and region, Azerbaijan's Foreign Affairs Minister Elmar Mammadyarov said at a meeting held in London at the International Institute for Strategic Studies with the international experts, who show interests towards Azerbaijan and the region, the ministry's press service said on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the minister informed participants about the priorities of Azerbaijan's foreign policy, relations with the world community, and relations between Azerbaijan and Great Britain, as well as the cooperation with the EU and NATO.
Mammadyarov also noted the significant economic potential that exists in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan.
The minister underscored that Azerbaijan, which is investing large investments in the development of this sphere, is interested in the further expansion of cooperation with the neighboring states and the EU.
The minister, speaking about the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, noted that this conflict is the most serious obstacle for the full use of region's potential.
During the meeting Azerbaijan's Foreign Affairs Minister answered to numerous questions of the participants of the event.
