"West-Resource" public association for support of development of civil society published the results of an exit poll for the presidential election in Azerbaijan, which took place on Wednesday.

According to results of the exit poll, Ilham Aliyev gained 80.6 percent of votes; Jamil Hasanli gained 10.2 percent; Gudrat Hasanguliev gained 2.7 percent; Igbal Agazade gained 1.8 percent; Sardar Jalaloglu gained 1.6 percent; Zahid Oruj gained 1.5 percent; Ilyas Ismailov gained 0.9 percent; Faraj Guliyev gained 0.4 percent; Hafiz Hajiyev gained 0.2 percent; Araz Alizade gained 0.1 percent, said at a press conference held on the results of exit poll, the chairman of the Public association Ramin Geyushev said at the press conference.

"Youth on the guard of transparency of the electoral process" project was realized in Azerbaijan with funding from the U.S. Embassy in Azerbaijan. Some 450 young observers were trained as part of the project.

Training of a team of observers and observation of the electoral process were carried out in cooperation with organizations such as the SMDT and Democracy Studies, which monitored the electoral process and operated in Azerbaijan.

'Perfect Citizen' and 'Development-2006' public associations provided technical and organizing support for the successful implementation of the project of West-Resource public association for support of development of civil society, Geyushov said.

According to him the legal support was provided by the 'Right and Development' Public Association.

During the press conference it was noted that the instructed youth carried out monitoring at 450 stations.

The young observers sent photos, videos and information to the www.uinelection.net website from smartphones.

From the information that the observers sent, it can be concluded that during the election there was an activity of the population and young people, the chairman of the association said.

According to the results of observation, participation in election was 70-72 percent.

The presidential election voting, which took place on Wednesday, was completed in Azerbaijan.

Country's polling stations opened at 8:00 and closed at 19:00 (local time).

Ten candidates took part in the elections including the Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the chairman of Umid Party Igbal Aghazadeh, self-nominated candidate MP Zahid Oruj, the chairman of the United Azerbaijan Popular Front Party (UAPFP) MP Gudrat Hasanguliyev, the chairman of the Modern Musavat Party Hafiz Hajiyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party (ASDP) Araz Alizadeh, the chairman of the National Revival Movement Party, MP Faraj Guliyev, the candidate nominated by the initiative group of voters of the 'National Council of Democratic Forces', Jamil Hasanli, the chairman of the Adalat Party, MP Ilyas Ismayilov and the chairman of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) Sardar Jalaloglu.

The Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan has registered 5,145,643 voters.

In connection with the presidential election, the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan established 5,273 permanent and 219 temporary polling stations.

Web cameras have been installed in 1000 polling stations in 119 constituencies of Azerbaijan. Unlike in previous years, this time the voting process was monitored via mobile devices such as smartphones.

Totally, 52,000 people observed the election in Azerbaijan, nearly 1,400 of which were international observers.

Also, the presidential election was covered by over 70 representatives from over 20 international media outlets.
