The observation mission of Idees NGO international initiative group made a statement on Thursday in connection with the presidential election in Azerbaijan held on October 9.

The mission includes 52 parliamentarians and experts, representing 37 countries of Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.

On election day, observers were observing the voting process in 26 constituencies of Baku and five regions of the country. They visited 450 polling stations.

According to the statement, the situation was peaceful in the country on election day. The local executive bodies and the police did not interfere in the voting. The observers from various political parties attended most polling stations. The votes were counted openly and transparently.

Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the results announced by Azerbaijani CEC after processing of ballots from 99.53 percent of polling stations, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 3,118,287 votes (84.59 percent).
