Trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey is at a quite good level, deputy chairman of the Natural Resources, Energy and Environment committee of Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (parliament), Elton Mammadov said on Nov. 14.
He made the remarks commenting on results of the last official visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Turkey.
According to the MP the good level of trade turnover between Azerbaijan and Turkey gives grounds to say that it can be brought to the projected $15 billion from existing $4.2 billion as a result of high-level political and economic cooperation.
The expansion of cooperation thanks to the efforts of heads of both states and as an indicator of this, the awarding of two leaders the highest state awards speaks about the development and the high level of relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey, the MP said.
"Turkey and Azerbaijan - one nation, two states - mobilize all forces to become powerful states of the world and support each other thanks to the political and economic cooperation and the efficient use of energy and other resources," Mammadov said.
According to the MP, the last official visit of the President Ilham Aliyev to Turkey can be considered as a new stage in relations between the two countries.
"If we look at the overall concept of Azerbaijan's state budget, we can see that the projects envisaged therein will ensure Azerbaijan's domestic energy security. President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan will support global projects, will strengthen and will be recognized as a strong state by effectively using its energy resources," Mammadov said.
