A series of rallies of Turkey's ruling party within the election campaign for municipal elections in this country have been cancelled, Turkish Milliyet newspaper reported on Feb. 27.

The rallies in the central province of Eskisehir as well as in the southern province of Mersin were cancelled, according to the newspaper.

The newspaper also said that the reason for cancellation was not revealed.

Municipal elections in Turkey will be held on March 30, 2014.

It is expected that the main struggle in these elections will be between the Turkish Republican People's Party (CHP) and the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
