Baku, Azerbaijan, March 12
By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:
Taksim Square in Turkish city of Istanbul was closed down, Turkish Haber7 TV channel reported on March 12.
The reason for closing down the square was the gathering of protesters there, according to the report.
Police forces were deployed on the roads leading to the Taksim Square to prevent protesters from gathering.
Last night there were mass protests in 32 Turkish cities with regard to the death of the 15-year-old Elvan Berkin, who suffered a head injury during a rally in May last year.
Despite the yesterday's crackdown by Turkish police, protesters in Istanbul are currently erecting barricades.
The largest protests were observed in Istanbul and Ankara.
