The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran discussed bilateral and regional issues in the Turkish city of Van on March 14, IRNA reported.

A meeting between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif took place. The main topics of discussion were the activity of the joint commission on cooperation, cooperation in the Caspian Sea, as well as in the energy and transport sectors.

Iranian Foreign Minister, highlighting the common history and culture of the two countries, stressed the importance of the development of their bilateral relations.

A meeting behind closed doors was also held by the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran.

The format was the same as the one held in Nakhchivan last year.
