Russia will respond harshly in connection with the expansion of the U.S. sanction list, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on March 21, RIA Novosti reported.
"The U.S. administration's decision on expanding a sanction list of Russian officials, MPs and businessmen announced on March 20 as "punishment" for the reunification of Crimea with Russia causes frustration and regret," he said. "Of course, we will respond harshly as we have repeatedly done in connection with the previously imposed sanctions. The effectiveness of sanctions in terms of American 'interests' is zero. But these irresponsible actions will inevitably harm the Russian-American relations."
