The protest actions were held in Ankara and Istanbul last night, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported on May 24.

The rally participants were protesting against the death of the mine workers in the province of Manisa. The police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse the protesters.

The protest actions in the country began on May 22. Following the unrests, police had to use rubber bullets, which resulted in one man getting hit in the head.

Another protestor was killed when demonstrators detonated an explosive device in Istanbul area Okmeydani on May 23.

Also on May 23, a group of 40 protesters pelted the police with stones. Until today, two people have been killed as a result of the protests.

Some 301 people were killed and 486 people were injured following the mine explosion in Soma city, Turkish province of Manisa.
