Azerbaijan – NATO’s important partner, ambassador says

Azerbaijan is a very important and valuable partner for NATO, Romanian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu said in Baku on Aug.5.
"The relations between NATO and Azerbaijan have significantly developed in recent years. The sides cooperate in the sphere of defense, in carrying out democratic reforms and enhancing practical cooperation in many other fields. NATO also assists Azerbaijan in training and modernization of the armed forces," Ciobanu said.
The ambassador added that the political dialogue between Azerbaijan and NATO covers many spheres and Azerbaijan's support to the ISAF mission in Afghanistan, as well as its significant contribution to the international anti-terrorism campaign is of great importance for NATO.
He underscored that NATO highly appreciates Azerbaijan's financial and military support to the ISAF mission.
Romanian ambassador emphasized the great potential for cooperation between Azerbaijan and NATO within the organization's mission in Afghanistan after 2014.
Ciobanu went on to add that the cooperation between the two sides makes significant contribution to the stability and security in the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions.
The ambassador said that as a member of the EU and NATO, Romania is ready to assist Azerbaijan in expanding its relations with European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
