Azerbaijani Ambassador to Lithuania Hasan Mammadzadeh met with Lithuania's Defense Minister Juozas Olekas, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said Oct. 3.
The ministry said that during the meeting the parties discussed bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Lithuania, interparliamentary ties, the two countries' cooperation in international organizations, as well as the prospects of collaboration in the defense sector.
The ambassador informed the Lithuanian minister about military and political situation in the region, and the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Mammadzadeh said that the Supreme Commander of Azerbaijan's Armed Forces, President Ilham Aliyev attaches special importance to strengthening and improving the level of professionalism in the army.
He also informed Olekas about the reforms carried out in recent years in Azerbaijan's armed forces.
