Poldasht-Shah Takhti Iranian-Azerbaijani border checkpoint will work 24 hours.
This issue was discussed at a meeting of the chairman of Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov with the head of the Iranian province of West Azerbaijan Gurbanali Saadat, the Iranian news agency IRNA said.
Talibov said that Nakhchivan is interested in developing relations with the province of West Azerbaijan, the foundation of which was laid in 1993.
He said that the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic is interested in the development of relations between Iran and Azerbaijan as well.
In 2013, West Azerbaijan province was visited by 135,000 people, and the figure has reached 70,000 in 2014, Talibov said. He said that the trade turnover between the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan and the West Azerbaijan through the Poldasht Shah Takhti border checkpoint amounted to $9 million last year and $5 million in 2014.
Talibov said that there is great potential for cooperation in the field of agriculture, medicine, science and industry.
He said that currently negotiations are underway on switching the border check point to a non-stop mode. In this case, bilateral trade ties will expand.
Saadat said that there is an agreement between the states on the processing of beet on the territory of Nakhchivan, but it has not been implemented yet. He expressed hope that this problem will be solved soon.
Saadat also proposed to hold a joint exhibition to familiarize with the products made in the province of West Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan AR. This will contribute to the development of relations and allow to get acquainted with the achievements of science, commerce and economics.
