Azerbaijan's participation in G20 summit in Turkey is of great importance, Novruz Mammadov, deputy head of Azerbaijani presidential administration, chief of the administration's foreign relations department told reporters Nov.20.

The top official noted that the G20 summit is the biggest event on a global scale. He said the issues discussed in this summit, the exchange of views and other issues will long be talked by some political and analytical centers.

Further, the top official said G20 is considered as one of the important structures in the world, adding that these countries account for 85 percent of the world economy and 80 percent of the world trade.

"From this point of view, the G20 countries have significant influence on the ongoing processes in the world," he said.

Mammadov said the G20 summit is important amid the ongoing processes in the world, which have intensified and, to some extent, escalated since early 2015.

The top official noted that the terrorist attacks in Paris on the eve of the G20 summit, put a spotlight on the event.

Invitation of President Ilham Aliyev to this summit as a special guest, his participation in all meetings and gatherings of the summit as an equal member and addressing each of these meetings is very significant for Azerbaijan, Mammadov said.

First of all, this showed the friendly, brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey and their strategic partnership which has reached such a high level, he added.

"In general, such attitude in these processes shows that the relations between the two brotherly counties, their leaders and people are of great importance," said the top official.

He added that Azerbaijan's invitation to this important summit by Turkey shows that these two brotherly countries, partner states have a significant influence on the processes on the international arena, in the region and the world.

"In addition to the speeches made by Azerbaijan's president in all meetings of the summit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that in recent years, Azerbaijan has played a very important role in the region and integration processes on the international arena, particularly in the energy sphere," said Mammadov.

The top official said President Aliyev also attended the Leaders' Forum of the 38th Session of UNESCO General Conference in Paris.

"UNESCO is an influential international organization in the world and Azerbaijan has been cooperating with this organization since 1994," said Mammadov.

Azerbaijan's First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva has made a great contribution to the development of cooperation with UNESCO, he said, adding that good cooperation was established between Azerbaijan and this organization as a result of her activities.

Addressing the leaders' forum, Azerbaijan's president touched upon political, economic, security issues, settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, refugee problems and so on, said the top official.

Mammadov pointed out that in his speech, Aliyev also briefed the forum participants about Azerbaijan's achievements in political, economic and multiculturalism sphere in recent years.

Compared to other countries which were talking about multiculturalism 5-6 years ago and given the ongoing developments in these countries, today, Azerbaijan is an island of stability and security not only in the region, but also in the world, he said.

The G20 summit and the UNESCO forum once again showed Azerbaijan's strong influence and image to the world, according to Mammadov.
