Pakistan says to further support Azerbaijan on Karabakh issue

Pakistan’s President Mamnoon Hussain and First Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov on Nov. 23 agreed for early finalization of joint ventures in different sectors of the economy for mutual benefit, the Daily Times reported.

They met on the sidelines of The International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2016).

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense Industry Yavar Jamalov and Ambassador Ali Alizada and other senior officials attended the meeting.

Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan accords high importance to its brotherly ties with Azerbaijan. He said that the relations between the two countries were rooted in common history, culture, traditions, faith and values.

The Pakistani president, while expressing his satisfaction over the existing close relations between the two countries, noted the need for further enhancing the defense relations.

He said that Pakistan and Azerbaijan have commonality of views on different issues and cooperate with each other at all regional and international forums, including the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Economic Cooperation Organization.

Mamnoon Hussain said also that Pakistan will continue to support Azerbaijan's stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue.

He expressed satisfaction over the continued increase in defense cooperation between the two countries.

Moreover, he said that Azerbaijan can benefit from the services of Pakistan's defense and civil institutions for the training of its civil and military personnel.

The president said there is a need to enhance the volume of trade between the two countries.

Yagub Eyyubov, for his part, expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s defense products, which he said meet international standards.

Azerbaijan is very impressed by Pakistan’s expertise in this field, added the first deputy prime minister.

He also expressed Azerbaijan’s desire to initiate joint ventures with Pakistan in different sectors.
