Ilham Aliyev receives credentials of incoming ambassadors (UPDATE)

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Azerbaijan Arja Inkeri Makkonen January 9.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland to Azerbaijan Arja Inkeri Makkonen January 9.

Makkonen presented her credentials to President Aliyev, who then had a conversation with the ambassador.

The president said the two countries enjoy good experience of cooperation.

President Aliyev stressed the importance of his official visit to Finland, and the Finnish president`s official visit to Azerbaijan.

President Aliyev recalled with pleasure his meetings with the president of Finland on the sidelines of international events, and added that cooperation within international organizations is an important part of the bilateral ties.

President Aliyev said there are good opportunities for the development of relations in various areas, including in the fields of trade and transport, particularly within the North-South transport corridor.

The president expressed confidence that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Finland will continue to develop successfully.

President Aliyev expressed hope that Makkonen`s activity in the country will contribute to the strengthening of these ties even further.

The ambassador in turn conveyed greetings of President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinisto to President Aliyev.

The ambassador said there are good relations between the two countries, adding she will spare no efforts to contribute to strengthening the bilateral cooperation, expanding the commercial ties and increasing the number of reciprocal visits in the various areas.

Touching upon the importance of the interparliamentary cooperation, Makkonen emphasized the significance of bilateral ties and visits between Azerbaijan and Finland in this field.

President Aliyev thanked for the greetings of President Niinisto, and asked the diplomat to communicate his greetings to the Finnish president.

President Aliyev also received the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Estonia to Azerbaijan Marin Mottus.

Mottus presented her credentials to President Aliyev. President Aliyev then had a conversation with the ambassador.

The president recalled with pleasure his visit to Estonia and Estonian president's visit to Azerbaijan. Ilham Aliyev hailed the very good mutual understanding between the two countries, as well as their support for each other in the political sphere, saying trade cooperation between Azerbaijan and Estonia is not as active as in these areas.

Saying that Azerbaijani Embassy in Estonia has been operating for many years, the president lauded the two countries' active cooperation within international organizations too.

President Aliyev expressed hope that much more importance will be given to the expansion of economic and trade relations for the development of bilateral relations which in turn will pave the way for stimulation of export and import operations and determination of opportunities between Azerbaijan and Estonia.

The president also hailed the importance of reciprocal visits at different levels in strengthening the bilateral relations, saying that cultural cooperation is of crucial importance in terms of the two peoples' better knowing each other.

President Aliyev praised the successful development of bilateral relations within the European Union.

The ambassador conveyed greetings of President of the Republic of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid to President Aliyev.

The ambassador Mottus thanked President Aliyev for the kind words, hailing the successful development of Estonia-Azerbaijan political relations. She noted the importance of high-level reciprocal visits in terms of strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Estonian ambassador also underlined the two countries' active cooperation and mutual support for each other within international organizations.

The sides exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in trade, transportation, information technologies, tourism, agricultural and cultural fields.

President Aliyev thanked for the greetings of President Kaljulaid, and asked the ambassador to extend his greetings to the Estonian president.

President Aliyev also received the credentials of newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Peru to Azerbaijan Luis Manuel Santiago Marcovich Monasi.

Luis Manuel Santiago Marcovich Monasi presented his credentials to President Aliyev. President Aliyev then had a conversation with the ambassador.

Luis Manuel Santiago Marcovich Monasi conveyed greetings of President of the Republic of Peru Pedro Pablo Kuczynski to President Aliyev.

He noted that very good opportunities were established to define cooperation areas for the strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Peruvian diplomat informed the president about the work planned to be done to develop cooperation in a variety of fields between the two countries.

President Aliyev underlined the importance of expanding cultural ties and the two peoples' better knowing each other despite a long distance between the two countries.

Hailing the importance of relations within the political and international organizations, the president noted that expanding bilateral ties between the two countries, as well as exploring the opportunities for identifying areas of cooperation between the two countries particularly in trade and tourism sectors are of pivotal importance.

He underlined the possibility of mutual export of various products manufactured by the two countries.

The president thanked for the greetings of President Kuczynski, and asked the ambassador to extend his greetings to the Peruvian leader.
