Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has sent condolences to President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani.
"I was deeply saddened by the news of numerous human casualties and destructions as a result of a powerful earthquake in the west of your country," reads the message.
"I sincerely express my deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the victims, to all the people of Iran on behalf of myself and the people of Azerbaijan, wish recovery to the wounded and injured, and wish the immediate removal of consequences of the natural disaster. May Allah rest the souls of the dead in peace!" said Ilham Aliyev.
