By Elchin Mehdiyev - Trend:

Eleni Theocharous, Member of European Conservatives and Reformists Group, Member of the Bureau of the European Parliament, who encourages bloody separatism and ethnic cleansing, acts by the order of the Armenian Diaspora organizations, the Member of the Azerbaijani Parliament Aydin Huseynov told Trend October 3.

He noted that Theocharous has repeatedly visited the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, as a result of which she has been included in Azerbaijan's "list of undesirable persons".

The Azerbaijani MP also added that Theocharous has been brought to trial as an accused person under the relevant articles of the Criminal code for participating as an "observer" in the "referendum" of the separatist regime in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan on February 20, 2017.

Huseynov said that on the basis of the court's decision, a preventive measure in the form of arrest has been chosen against her, and a request has been sent to Interpol to put Theocharous on the international wanted list.

He noted that in 1990, under the pretext of "humanitarian mission", this Cypriot MP carried out surgical operations in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, for which she was awarded the "medal" of the separatist regime.

Huseynov added that by the order of Armenia and the Armenian Diaspora organizations, she clearly promotes in the international arena, especially in the framework of the European Parliament, the separatist regime established as a result of the military occupation of Azerbaijani lands.

"During the last of many illegal visits of the member of the European Parliament to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan on September 27 of this year, she was accompanied by Kaspar Karampetyan, who operates in Europe for the legitimization of the Armenian occupation," he added.

The Azerbaijani MP noted that despite the numerous visits of Theocharous to the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, she has posted on the official website of the European Parliament only a statement on participation the "referendum" of the separatist regime in February 2017.

"This activity of Theocharous, who tried to present all her illegal visits under the guise of the fact that she in some way led the official delegation of the European Parliament, means abuse of membership in the European Parliament. She also has to explain herself to the European Parliament regarding her visits financed from abroad," the Azerbaijani MP said.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.

The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
