By Elchin Mehdiyev – Trend:

The German federal police exposed a gang that transported emigrants, Azerbaijani journalist Yafez Ekremoglu said, Trend reports.

Ekremoglu was commenting on the detention of the former members of one of the Azerbaijani opposition parties by the German law enforcement agencies.

“For this purpose, the searches were carried out in the houses and offices of some Azerbaijanis and several people were arrested,” the journalist added.

Ekremoglu said that after receiving this information, he launched an investigation and collected several documentary facts.

"The searches in houses and offices have been authorized by the Koblenz prosecutor's office,” the journalist said. “The surnames (names were not indicated) of several Azerbaijani citizens suspected of committing a criminal case filed in connection with human trafficking were indicated in the relevant documents. Among them were Khalilbayli, Hasan (surname), Javadov and others.”

“Azerbaijani citizen Khalilbayli, who is the suspect, has been engaged in the transportation of people from Azerbaijan to Germany upon fake documents at least since 2015,” Ekremoglu said.

“Reportedly, today the number of the transported people has reached 60,” the journalist said. “Khalilbayli provided them with fake documents of a political emigrant by taking 1,000 euros. Allegedly, these people were persecuted in Azerbaijan because of their political views.”

“Posing as an authoritative person, Khalilbayli instructed them how to behave as a political emigrant,” Ekremoglu said. “Moreover, these individuals also gave him their real documents.”

“Khalilbayli received the documents testifying that allegedly, suspects Hasan (this is a surname - perhaps Ilham Hasan) and Javadov were prosecuted in Azerbaijan,” the journalist said. “To date, Khalilbayli has committed at least 50 such cases, as a result of which he received 300,000 euros.”

“Suspect Hasan sent the fake documents to Khalilbayli at least seven times,” Ekremoglu said. “The reason for the search in the houses and offices of many Azerbaijanis was the information collected during the investigation.”

The German law enforcement agencies detained former members of one of the Azerbaijani opposition parties. Seven members of the criminal gang were detained.

The local federal courts chose a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of six months in relation to the detained members of the criminal gang.
