BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 19. The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsperson) of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva has commented on the latest mine terror by Armenia, Trend reports via the Ombudsman's Office.

The Ombudswoman noted that mines laid by Armenia in the lands liberated from occupation continue to claim the lives of Azerbaijani servicemen and civilians.

"Thus, a vehicle carrying employees of the State Road Agency of Azerbaijan was blown up on September 19 by an anti-tank mine laid by a sabotage group of Armenian illegal armed groups on a section of the Ahmedbeyli-Fuzuli-Shusha road passing through the territory of Khojavand district," she said.

She also noted that a vehicle carrying MIA officers traveling towards the site of the terrorist attack exploded on a mine planted by a sabotage group of illegal Armenian illegal armed groups on a newly constructed tunnel road near the village of Taghavard in the Khojavand region. The explosions killed two civilians and four employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Mine terror carried out by Armenian armed forces and the subversive group of Armenian illegal armed groups not only affects the lives and health of civilians engaged in reconstruction and construction work in the liberated territories, but also creates a serious obstacle to the implementation of transportation and communication projects and the process of return of former internally displaced persons to their native lands," Aliyeva added.

Sabina Aliyeva emphasized that despite the fact that the Azerbaijani side has repeatedly demanded reliable maps of the mines laid in the territories liberated from occupation, Armenia's refusal to provide these maps once again proves that country's interest in killing innocent people and its disregard for the norms of international humanitarian law.

"As the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, I vehemently condemn this provocation, which has led to the death of civilians, damaged the peacebuilding process in the region, I call on the international community to put pressure on Armenia to provide Azerbaijan with accurate mine maps and respond to the mine terror committed by this country," she said.
