BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. Azerbaijan, together with Georgia, will build new checkpoints across the state border to carry out customs control, Trend reports.
This issue has been reflected in the "Action Plan for 2024-2026 to increase the transit potential of international transport corridors passing through the territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan and to stimulate transit cargo transportation" approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
According to the document, proposals for the construction of new checkpoints on the state border should be prepared, financial and estimated costs should be determined, and design work should be carried out. As a result, the possibility of an alternative crossing for transit transportation will be created.
In addition, according to the Action Plan, along with increasing the competitiveness and efficiency of transit corridors passing through the territory of Azerbaijan, improving existing transport services and infrastructure to attract additional transit cargo flows to these corridors.
There is a need to create new infrastructure, as well as minimize the duration of border crossing procedures for transit traffic and increase capacity.
