BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 24. The survey addressed to the Swiss government by a group of deputies of the Swiss Federal Assembly, which is biased towards Azerbaijan, has been opposed by Azerbaijani diaspora organizations functioning in Switzerland, Trend reports referring to the Azerbaijani State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.
The Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in Switzerland sent a statement on this issue to the Swiss Parliament. The statement emphasizes the importance of relations between the two states. The attempts of anti-peace forces in the South Caucasus to achieve their goals were brought to attention. It was stressed that the accusations of “genocide” and “ethnic cleansing” voiced in the Swiss parliament do not reflect reality, and concern was expressed about the discussion of such statements in Swiss state institutions.
Furthermore, the importance of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) to be held in November this year in Azerbaijan, its contribution to solving global environmental problems, as well as in terms of ensuring peace in the region, was emphasized. It was underlined that COP29 is an important platform for solving major climate problems. Members of the Swiss Parliament were urged to show a responsible approach and avoid manipulation in connection with these issues.
