BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 14. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will take part in COP29, Hungarian ambassador to Azerbaijan Tamás Torma said at a solemn event in honor of Hungary's national holiday - the anniversary of the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, Trend reports.
“Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will represent Hungary at COP29, which will be his third visit to Azerbaijan in less than a year,” the ambassador said.
He noted that Azerbaijan is doing impressive work in connection with COP29 for the benefit of all participants.
“Of course, Hungary fully supports the goals of the Azerbaijani chairmanship, and we are confident that Azerbaijan will hold a successful event,” Torma added.
According to the ambassador, relations between Hungary and Azerbaijan have strengthened on a solid basis over the past thirty years. Bilateral cooperation has developed rapidly, covering not only interaction in the bilateral format but also participation in multilateral initiatives, including joint activities within the Turkic associations. The relations between the two countries have reached the level of an expanded strategic alliance, which has brought notable results.
He also recalled that this year the Hungarian state-owned energy group MVM concluded an important deal to acquire a 5 percent stake in the Shah Deniz field, one of the largest gas condensate fields in the world.
“Hungary and Azerbaijan will be linked by the Green Energy Corridor project, an initiative supported by Azerbaijan, Hungary, Georgia, and Romania, which will facilitate the supply of clean and environmentally friendly energy to Europe,” Torma emphasized.
