BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 8. President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a law amending the Migration Code and the Law "On State Duty", which will allow employers in Azerbaijan to electronically obtain work permits for foreign nationals and stateless individuals, Trend reports.

The new changes enable employers to receive work permits in electronic form after paying the state fee for issuing or extending work permits for foreigners and stateless persons.

The law also provides that after the payment of the state fee for the extension of a work permit, employers will be able to receive the extended permits electronically.

Work permits issued or extended before the law comes into effect will remain valid until the expiration date indicated in the permit. If these permits are lost, destroyed, or deemed unsuitable, or if personal details in the foreigner’s identity documents or the employer’s legal entity information change, the work permits will be reissued electronically without requiring an additional state fee.

The law will take effect starting November 1, 2024.

The head of state has approved the law for the implementation of the corresponding decree.
