BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 11. On November 11, Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, President of Mongolia, Trend reports.
The Azerbaijani leader expressed his pleasure in welcoming the President of Mongolia to Baku and thanked him for accepting the invitation to attend COP29. President Ilham Aliyev noted that this was their first meeting, providing an excellent opportunity to exchange views on the prospects for bilateral relations.
Recalling with satisfaction his previous interactions with Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh at international events, President Ilham Aliyev described his first visit as the Mongolian President to Azerbaijan as a historic event.
President Ilham Aliyev expressed hope that future interactions between the two nations at various levels would continue. Praising the level of bilateral political relations, the head of state stressed the importance of identifying areas of cooperation in the economic sector as well.
Expressing gratitude for the kind words and the invitation to COP29, the President of Mongolia expressed great pleasure at accepting President Ilham Aliyev’s invitation to visit Azerbaijan.
The President of Mongolia described the meeting as historic for bilateral relations.
Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh extended congratulations to Azerbaijan for hosting and chairing COP29.
For his part, Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh recalled his positive interactions with President Ilham Aliyev at international events.
The Mongolian President noted that diplomatic relations between the two countries have been ongoing for 32 years and invited President Ilham Aliyev to visit Mongolia.
He expressed admiration for the significant development taking place in Azerbaijan under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership and highlighted the historical ties between the two nations. Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh emphasized the importance of strengthening the bilateral legal framework.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked his Mongolian counterpart for the invitation and for the congratulations on hosting COP29 in Azerbaijan. He also underlined Mongolia's progress under President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh’s leadership.
Both leaders hailed their countries' cooperation within international organizations and issued instructions for organizing visits at the foreign ministers’ and relevant agency levels. They discussed investment opportunities in Mongolia.
The meeting also explored the establishment of an intergovernmental commission and potential cooperation in tourism, education, and agriculture, including animal husbandry.
