BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 17. Soltan Mammadov, Head of the Azerbaijan-China interparliamentary relations working group in the National Assembly, met with Tian Xuejun, the Vice-Chairperson of the Education, Science, Culture, and Health Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, Trend reports.
The meeting, held in New York as part of parliamentary hearings organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, was an opportunity to discuss the work of the interparliamentary groups between Azerbaijan and China. It was emphasized that the high-level political ties between the two countries create excellent opportunities for further cooperation.
Mammadov provided information about the newly formed Azerbaijan-China interparliamentary relations working group and its future plans, following the elections to the National Assembly. He highlighted that the Republic of Azerbaijan places great importance on expanding international relations and establishing reliable partnerships with various countries. In this regard, the leadership of the National Assembly makes extensive use of parliamentary diplomacy to strengthen foreign relations.
Xuejun emphasized China's interest in developing relations with Azerbaijan across all sectors. He noted that developing interparliamentary relations holds a significant place on the bilateral agenda.
The meeting also involved discussions about organizing reciprocal visits by parliamentarians. Mammadov stated that any proposals from the Chinese side regarding the development of interparliamentary relations would be duly brought to the attention of the National Assembly leadership.
