The newly appointed resident representative of the UN High Commissariat on Refugees (UNHCR) in Azerbaijan, William Paul, has taken his office. Baku office of the UNHCR told Trend he started holding familiarity meetings with the Azerbaijani government officials.
Until the recent appointment Paul, a U.S. citizen, headed UNHCR office in Vladikavkaz, Russia. He will succeed in this post Martin Lowell returned to UNHCR headquarters in Geneva..
Paul’s recent plans in Azerbaijan include familiarity with internally displaced people in Azerbaijan, as well as refugees from the third countries. The new head of UNHCR’s Baku Office will present to the government its plans on further cooperation.
