NORWEGIAN STATE SECRETARY STARTS VISIT TO BAKU

Kim Trovik, the Norwegian State Secretary, will start a two-day official visit to Baku on Wednesday evening. He is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev,

Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and his deputies Khalaf Khalafov and Azim Azimov. He is also scheduled to meet with a group of Ambassadors accredited in Azerbaijan and representatives of the opposition.

The meetings will focus on the development of bilateral relationships, inter-regional cooperation, and political consultations. Trovik intends to discuss a project of the Norwegian government with the UNDP on investing $10m in the South Caucasus in the development programs, including the management, energy and environmental protection in 2005-2007.

Trovik paid his previous visit to Baku early November 2003, while then he was only received by Foreign Minister Khalafov.
