Politics Materials 6 September 2005 18:01 (UTC +04:00)

Starting from 2 September the chairman of the Azerbaijani Committee of the Council of Europe’s Anti-torture Committee, Elchin Beybutov, started a monitoring in the jails of the Interior Ministry. Beybutov said that he monitored the jails Yasamal and Narimanov districts of Baku. The next monitoring will be held at the Department on Organized Crime
Enforcement Department.

“We carry out monitoring at the agreement with the Interior Minister. Son we will start check-ups in the Department on Organized Crime Enforcement Department, as it frequently cited in the appeals to the Committee. They even say on cases of murder from tortures. In case of revealing the negative facts we will inform Minister Usubov,” Beybutov noted.

He refused to cite the exact date of examination. “I would not be right to announce on the date of the monitoring as we do it suddenly. Perhaps employees of the Department will try to hide the negations after being aware of the date of monitoring,” he stressed.
