ADP to APPEAL AGAINST COURT RULE IN REGARD TO RASUL GULIYEV

The Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) will appeal to the Court of Appeal against the court rule in regard to Rasul Guliyev, the chairman of the ADP, Mukhtar Mustafayev, the lawyer of Guliyev, told Trend.

The reason of the appeal is the rule issued by the Sabail district court on 8 September. The rule leaves the rule of the Prosecutor General’s Office on arrest of Guliyev in force. This rule deprives Guliyev of right to ballot in the parliamentary elections to be held in November, but Guliyev’s lawyer does not agree with the court rule.

“The rule of the Sabail district court is biased and hinders participation of Guliyev in the elections. This rule violates candidates’ electoral rights. The court did not take the provisions of the Elections Code on equality of candidates into consideration. The appeal is drawn up and we will submit it to the Court of Appeal on 12 September. I hope that we will seek fair court rule, as well as repatriation of Guliyev and his participation in the elections,” he added.
