AZERI DEPUTY FM TO ATTEND INT’L CONFERENCE ON ENERGY SECURITY IN CASPIAN REGION

Khalaf Khalafov, the Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister, will represent Azerbaijan in an international conference on Energy Security in the Caspian region, to be held in Garnish on 25-28 September 2005, Trend reports.

Khalafov said that the forum of scientific-practical character will not adopt any political resolution.

Organized by the George Marshall Center the conference will focus on general theoretical rules on ensuring energy security of the region during the natural cataclysms, terror acts. The participants in the conference will present their countries’ standpoints on the issue. Khalafov plans to deliver a speech to the gathering to clarify Azerbaijan’s position.

Attending the conference will be officials from the Caspian littoral countries, as well as Georgia, Turkey, the United States, representatives from NATO, the U.S. European Command, and the U.S. Department of State.
