NORWEGIAN EMBASSY ELABORATED ON RECENT INCIDENT IN GANJA

The Norwegian embassy in Azerbaijan elaborated on the version of the Nizami Police Precinct of Ganja on the incident happened on 21 September in connection with the opening of an Education Center there. The version by policy on the refusal of an owner of the building taken on lease by the embassy for the education center in connection with the expiration of the rent term do not correspond to reality.

The embassy said that the term of the contract did not expire and in accordance with the document, if any of the sides intend to quit it, it is to notify the opposite side 2 months prior of its decision. However, the embassy has not received any notification from the owner in this respect, the same source said.

The incident occurred in Ganja on Wednesday, when the Norwegian Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Steinar Gil, arrived there to attend the opening of the Norwegian Education Center. Employees of the Nizami Police Precinct locked the doors of the Center and did not also the people to enter the building. The Ambassador visited the police precinct with regard to clarify the reasons of the happened. There he was told that the owner of the house intended the premises to be freed in connection with the expiration of the rent agreement.
