MEETING BETWEEN AUTHORITIES AND OPPOSITION HELD

The meeting with participation of Ali Hassanov, the chief of the Public-Political Division of the President’s Apparat, Ali Ahmadov, the deputy chairman and executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, on the one hand and Arif Hajili, Panah Husseyn and Fuad Mustafayev, the representatives of the opposition �Azaadlig’ bloc, on other hand was held on Sunday at 16.30pm, Trend reports. “The negotiations gave positive result, the sides achieved mutual agreement,” Ali Hassanov said after the meeting.

Hajili noted that the authorities invited them to the meeting to discuss the opposition’s attempt to hold the action in one of the central squares of the city. According to Hajili, the representatives of the power are against confrontation and use of force during the action.

The oppositionists stressed that though they would use the freedom of assembly, they were against violence. The representatives of the bloc underlined that they would hold a rally in one of the central squares of the city next week. Therefore, the negotiations between authorities and the opposition must give result. According to Hajili, the negotiations will be continued on Monday. The authorities undertook liability to solve the demands of the oppositionists, but did not make concrete promises in this regard. The issue of holding of the next action in one of the squares proposed by �Azadlig’ bloc may be solved positively.
